Mons. ThDr. Franz LINKE

This publication is about a Catholic priest of German nationality who worked as a catechist in Libina and Olomouc, and from 1934 as the provost of the chapter in Mikulov. He was actively involved not only in pastoral but also in political work. He publicly opposed the ideology of Nazism. In 1938, he was appointed vicar general of the Sudeten part of the Brno diocese. He lived under the constant threat of arrest. He died unexpectedly on 29 December 1944. He is buried in the cemetery in Mikulov. Despite many awards, including the high secular and ecclesiastical offices he held, he always remained Father Franz, who, as a Catholic priest, wanted to be close to all people.
