Monks, courtiers, literati

The book brings together studies published in the last two decades in Czech and Polish journals and proceedings. They deal with various aspects of the Cistercian Order (e.g. visitations, medicine, political activities) and the environment of the court of King Wenceslas II. (1283-1305), among others the forgotten personality of John of Ostrov. The two themes are intertwined in the final section devoted to the Chronicon Aulae Regiae.
