Miracles at Hradčany
The day when Jiří and I went to shoot at Hradčany was actually a bit of a miracle. An exceptionally beautiful, sunny autumn time, the environment just rich enough in sounds to illustrate the places full of tourists, but not drowning out the sound of tall chestnuts and acacia trees remembering the events and times the painter tells about. We weren't sure, if we can get around everything that day, to describe and say, but in the end, it worked, because - after all, as long experience as a reporter suggests - inspiration in the form of real scenery, of houses and even particular gates passed unnoticed by the uninitiated, it acts as a pleasant opiate to relieve fatigue and leg pain. Jiří Anderle has gotten younger here (perhaps that's why he offered me a hug, which I respectfully accepted) and you can add your voice to the reading of the book. Not just the painter's. But also the lamplighter's or the postman's, as Jiří aptly put it, and he added his storytelling hallmark to the literary stories, for which we love him. I would like to believe that this recording will enrich your reading of the book Na Hradčanech with a dimension that you would otherwise have to add to the pictures of the old stories yourself.
