Science fiction from an overly technologically advanced town

When he's not solving trivial criminal cases, he kills time by playing computer games, watching perverted television shows, and devouring bittersweet orchids. He lives under the Metal Sky—just like everyone else in the technologically advanced and morally corrupt city-state of Typhus.
But while Theo enjoys the simple pleasures of an uncomplicated girlfriend, interspersing them with futile daydreams about a sophisticated colleague, his boss, the director of the SVS, is getting more and more worried. Who is to blame? Why, Mr Wonderful, of course. He appears completely unexpectedly and walks through walls, but for an ordinary ghost, he is far too tangible. He takes what he needs, occasionally sucks someone's brain out, and then disappears just as inexplicably. And above all: he shouldn't exist at all. Where did he come from, what information is he collecting, and on whose orders is he working?
The SVS director is pinning her hopes on Theo and his little genius friend, a metal centipede. The question is whether anyone even has a chance of succeeding against Mr Wonderful, the phantom in a scout uniform from whom bullets ricochet like rubber balls.
Step with us into the bleak world of Typhus, where hymenoptera fly through the air, living bio-cars race through the streets, mobile phones have their own consciousness, and the economy rests on the shoulders of genetically modified hybrids. But don't forget to look over your shoulder every now and then to see if a bloodthirsty Boy Scout is behind you. The hunt for the elusive phantom is just beginning.
