Call of the Wild is set in Alaska and the main character is a dog named Buck.
The novel The Call of the Wild was first published in 1903 and tells the story of Buck, a St. Bernard and Scottish Shepherd cross. The story takes place during the Klondike gold rush. Buck, who is raised by a wealthy family in the southern United States, is sold as a draft dog to Alaska. Buck manages to adapt to the harsh conditions of working as a draft dog and the harsh northern climate. The story beautifully describes the wild nature of Alaska and the power of friendship between man and dog.
