Maniac III: The black widow

In this third instalment, we once again meet Jiří Majer, a.k.a. “Nervák” (Hothead), who was the Prague CID’s best detective until the tragic death of his wife broke him. The subsequent mental breakdown and aggressive behaviour cost him his job with the police. He gets a new chance with the elite security agency Vanguard Security, where the owner himself, sixty-year-old Bohumil Bareš, takes a liking to him. However, their friendship starts to crack the moment the ageing and unattractive millionaire is seduced by a dazzling beauty.
Thanks to his professional paranoia, Nervák investigates her past and uncovers a chilling pattern: the woman is a black widow who has already buried three husbands. Bareš, however, doesn't take his subordinate's warning seriously and believes that his new love, Viktorie, is just unlucky with sick men. Within six months, Bareš succumbs to a sudden heart attack.
The turning point comes when Viktorie is murdered right in Bareš's office. Because Nervák had a public argument with her about his dismissal on the same day, he becomes the prime suspect. On the run from the police and his own demons, the detective begins a dangerous game on his own terms. During his arduous investigation in all sorts of places, he faces suspects in chilling and terrifying confrontations. But the truth he ultimately finds is darker than he ever expected.
