Management of chronic wounds
The publication comprehensively deals with the management of wound care. It is intended for healthcare professionals who treat patients with non-healing wounds in clinical practice in hospitals, home care, social services and hospice settings. The issues are treated from causes, related factors, diagnosis, therapy to specific types of wounds, their continuous assessment and subsequent management of care. Specific non-healing wounds, which are included in the monograph, are decubitus, ulcus cruris, diabetic foot syndrome, malignant and sororigenic (caused by the nurse) wounds.
Information on non-healing wounds reflects not only the physical manifestations of the wounds, but also the impact on pain, psychological experience and social functioning of the patient and his/her family. An important area for selected types of wounds is the selection of appropriate interventions, using the latest nursing techniques and therapies. The authors drew mainly on foreign literature, evidence-based practice and their own experience.
