Malignant tumours of the bladder

Malignant tumours of the bladder belong to the tumours with increasing incidence, but this issue has not yet been published in books. Therefore, the new monograph by a team of authors led by an experienced oncologist from the Masaryk Cancer Institute is a significant achievement in the domestic literature.
Advances have been made in the diagnosis and treatment of bladder cancer. Endoscopic possibilities are being improved in diagnostics, and non-invasive diagnostic techniques such as liquid biopsy will probably soon enter clinical practice. Imaging methods are also being improved, not only computed tomography, but also the visualisation of tumours using magnetic resonance imaging. The subtyping of tumours is very important as it tells about the character and behaviour of the histological unit and has its prognostic value. Surgical treatment has seen significant improvements in surgical techniques, and new methods of radiotherapy are being used to reduce acute and chronic side effects. New possibilities of systemic treatment and immunotherapy with Chechkpoint inhibitors are also important. All these aspects are reflected in the new monograph.
The book is of interest to oncologists, urology, gynecology, surgery, of radiology and imaging, geneticists and general practitioners.
