Magical Zodiac

An attractive and popular topic, this time approached in a somewhat unconventional way, focusing on the undisciplined offspring of the individual signs. This book, from the pen of one of today's most respected and widely published authors, explores not only the characteristics of each zodiac sign, including some of their attributes, in a very readable and distinctive way, but also delves into their mutual (un)attractiveness. A separate chapter of the book is devoted to Lunar Magic, which, among other things, offers readers a few tried-and-tested spells for each phase of the Moon. Illustrated by Lubomír Kupčík.

Petra Neomillnerová (*1970), one of the most successful contemporary authors, focuses primarily on fantasy in her work. Her writing is characterised not only by a very readable literary style but also by a naturalistic rawness and harshness, both in terms of plot and characterisation. This is precisely what gives her texts a sense of authenticity.

She debuted with the short story Ta, kterou smějí sedlat jen bohové… (She Who May Be Ridden Only by Gods…) in the magazine Pevnost. In 2006, she published her first standalone book – the collection Vlastní krev (Own Blood), in which she gathered stories about the sorceress Moire and added several other short stories. This was followed by the first volume of the Písně čarodějky (Songs of the Sorceress) cycle (stories of the sorceress Moire and Desmond) titled Nakažení (The Infected) (2007), a collection of short stories combining fantasy with S/M themes, Hry na bolest (Pain Games) (2007), and the first part of the cycle about the vampire Tina Salo from contemporary Prague, Sladká jak krev (Sweet as Blood) (2007). In 2008, the series continued with Doušek věčnosti (A Sip of Eternity) (2008) and Past na medvěda (Bear Trap) (2008). The novel featuring the enchantress Lota, Psí zima (Dog Winter), was published in 2008. The following year, she released the fantasy novel Dítě Skály (Child of the Rock) and the short story collection Zaklínačka Lota (Lota the Enchantress). In 2010, two more instalments of the Tina Salo series were published, Smrt u archanděla (Death at the Archangel's) and Vlci Sudet (Wolves of the Sudetenland). She has so far published three titles on the topic of magic: Magické kameny (Magic Stones) (2006), Milostná magie (Love Magic) (2007), and Runová magie (Rune Magic) (2007). She also contributes to anthologies and collaborates with the magazine Pevnost.
