Ludmila Vančurová: Twenty-six beautiful years

A five-part reading from the memoir of Vladislav Vančura's wife. From the first meeting to the fateful phone call with an anonymous message informing about her husband's death. Ludmila Vančurová's memoir Twenty-six Beautiful Years, although its title suggests an idyll, is in fact a realistic picture of a marriage relationship from its beginnings to its tragic end. In her memoirs, she chronicles their life together from the first meeting to the fateful phone call with an anonymous message informing her of her husband's death, which came before midnight on 1 June 1942. From the narrative, a picture of Vančura the man and Vančura the creator emerges vividly.
