Lost

Danish love thriller about family ties, death and fatal passion.

A brilliant Danish thriller about greed, murder, deceit and fateful decisions takes the reader to picturesque Danish fishing villages, but also to the stately mansions and dangerous underworld of Copenhagen. A story that can compete with Hitchcock's Marnie.

Louise is a young woman who lives with her boyfriend Joachim on the small island of Christian, where she also runs a café. One summer day, during the busiest time of the year, a man comes to her claiming that Louise is his wife Helena, who disappeared without a trace three years ago. The woman in the photographs he shows her actually looks very much like Louise. The police investigate and it turns out that Louise has scars on her head from her injuries. Could this be the cause of the memory loss?

Louise is indeed Helena Söderberg, heiress to a business empire, wife of Edmund and mother of two children. He has to say goodbye to Joachim and start a "new" life, or rather return to the old one, which he has no memory of. What really happened the night Louise/Helena disappeared? The plot of this intense thriller is constantly two steps ahead of the reader, and the plot is inexorably moving towards a surprising denouement.
