Loners

Hubert Bird calls his daughter in Australia every week and tells her of a happy retirement full of friends and small pleasures. But in reality, he spends his days alone, surrounded only by memories and carefully maintained lies. When he hears news that could destroy his imaginary world, it makes him go out among the people again. To save the image of life he has carefully created, he begins to build a real life. He is discovering new friendships, repairing old ones, opening up to old feelings and running out of one: it's never too late to start over.
