Lone Wolf
The comic book Lone Wolf follows the thrilling story of the Czechoslovak fighter pilot Josef František—an exceptional airman who could never fit into any system, but became a legend in the air. From his restless youth in the Haná region, through training marked by disciplinary issues, to his escape from his occupied homeland, we follow the journey of a man who refuses to “stand by and watch” and seeks only one thing—the chance to fight. Set against the backdrop of major historical events, from the Munich Agreement through the occupation to exile, František's fate gradually unfolds across Europe: from Poland through France to England, where he finds himself in the turmoil of the Battle of Britain. It is there, in the ranks of the legendary No. 303 Squadron RAF, that František's exceptional nature and his fatal flaw are fully revealed. Unable to fly in tight formation, he disobeys orders and goes into battle alone. He becomes a “lone wolf”: a distinctive, undisciplined, but devastatingly effective fighter pilot, one of the most successful pilots of the entire Battle of Britain. With every victory, however, his inner turmoil, fatigue, and the loneliness of a man who cannot—and perhaps does not want to—be like others also grows.
