Liluli
A parable about humanity blindly rushing into war, dominated by the irresistible Liluli – the eternal illusion, whose voice and charms entice everyone to pursue wartime heroism, even if it leads to their death. From 1904, Romain Rolland worked on his key prose work, the novel Jean-Christophe, whose 10 parts were published in instalments until 1912. In 1915, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for it, donating most of the prize money to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the First World War. After completing the extensive novel, which he had dedicated almost ten years to, he longed to embark on a less restrictive work. This desire resulted primarily in the 1919 novel known in the Czech Republic as *Dobrý člověk ještě žije* (A Good Man Is Still Alive). And also the theatrical grotesque Liluli, published in the same year. This excellent radio adaptation was directed by Jiří Horčička, who collaborated with the leading actors of his time: Jaroslava Adamová, Václav Voska, Jiří Sovák, Jana Drbohlavová, Josef Kemr, František Filipovský, and others.
