Letters to George

The most widely published methodological guide for scout leaders. Extended edition. The text of Letters to Jur used is based on the latest fifth edition from 1991.
Velen Fanderlik was a leading figure in Czechoslovak scouting for decades, both here and later in exile. However, in addition to holding high-ranking official positions, his interest was primarily focused on the program and education of scouts and scout girls.
The basis for the methodological advice was his publication Listy Jurovi, which was first published in 1935 under the title Listy věčci. And since then it has been the most widely published methodological guide. Although almost 90 years have passed since it was written and many things have changed, it is surprising how the basic methodological advice and principles still apply today. How the ability to empathize with the souls of scouts continues to bring inspiration and encouragement.
Velen Fanderlik wrote several other books and, above all, dozens, perhaps hundreds of magazine articles, to which he often added his characteristic pictures. The scope was wide, from a philosophical perspective on scouting, through methodology, psychology, memories, to specific practical instructions on how to camp or play games. We have selected several texts that have retained their timelessness and complement the introductory book.
The texts of the amendments are left in their original wording, with only the necessary substantive and linguistic adjustments. Drawings and paintings by V. The fanarts on the back of the cover come from exile camps and the Canadian countryside.
To understand the context and life inspiration, you will find an interview with Velen at the end of the book, in which he describes his life and his opinions, all accompanied by photographs from childhood to old age.
