Let it hang on your lips
How to captivate, convince and entertain with the power of storytelling
This won't teach you how to be funnier, but something much more valuable – how not to ruin a good story.
Everyone has something worth sharing. And perhaps most importantly, the process of storytelling itself is one of the most powerful tools for understanding our own lives and giving them meaning.
Do you feel like you tell stories better in your head than out loud? Do you hesitate to speak when there's a larger audience? And why is it that some people can grab your attention with their first sentence, while others lose the crowd before they've even begun?
Matthew Dicks, one of the best storytellers of our time, will convince you that the ability to tell a story is not an innate gift, but a skill that anyone can develop. He will guide you through a proven method that will enable you to turn ordinary situations into powerful stories and narrate them in a compelling way.
Matthew's secret lies in working with emotions, scenes, surprise and humour in such a way that the audience experiences the story along with him. When you master his process, it will improve not only your communication skills, but also your relationships and self-confidence.
In the book, you will discover, among other things:
A good story doesn't have to be exceptional – even everyday situations can be presented in a way that captivates, moves or makes people laugh.
Attention isn't determined by length or topic: it's about pacing, suspense and a precisely aimed punchline.
Suspense is not built by explaining, but by precisely dosed silence.
The most powerful moment often lasts only a few seconds – and everything before it must be subordinated to it.
When you know what to leave out, your storytelling will seem lighter, more confident and more natural.
What they wrote about the book:
Do you also always envy people who barely open their mouths and everyone around them is already hanging on their every word? Thanks to the book Storyworthy, you will learn that there is no specific talent behind it, but a set of skills that you can master too. You will become a better dinner companion, a more engaging storyteller for your children, and a more proficient speaker during presentations or business meetings.

Matthew Dicks
When he's not telling his stories, he leads a varied life: he is a primary school teacher, professional storyteller, blogger, wedding DJ and co-founder of the storytelling platform Speak Up. He has written several books on storytelling, is a sixty-time winner of the prestigious Moth StorySLAM competition, and works as a communication skills coach with universities, companies and organisations around the world. Among other things, he has also survived clinical death twice and became possibly the first student to be suspended for "inciting a riot against himself". He now lives in Connecticut with his wife Elysha and their two children.
