Land of widows

When caregiver Jette arrives for her usual morning check-up on elderly Mrs. Jensen, she has no idea what she' s about to see. In the bathroom of a dilapidated fisherman' s cottage on the west coast of Denmark, he finds an old woman in an unnatural position. Mrs. Jensen seemingly committed a very brutal suicide, but something doesn' t add up for the investigation team led by Peter Iversen.
While examining the body, the doctor discovers a crystal ball in the victim' s palm with an engraved inscription that proves a connection to the mysterious death of the Supreme Court Justice of the United States, Elisabeth Moore Jackson. Peter Iversen is summoned from a Danish intelligence agency to Copenhagen for a meeting, where he becomes part of the FBI investigation team and receives the quirky archaeologist Nanna Rasmussen as a partner for further investigation. She goes with him to Cairo, where they want to discuss the authenticity of the amulets they found with an expert. However, the trip to Egypt goes awry, the Egyptian police get involved in the investigation, another body is discovered, and new information leads Peter and Nanna to the Vatican and New Orleans.
