A social novel about human relationships Lady Chatterley's Lover
Lady Chatterley's Lover, 1928, Lady Chatterley's Lover, caused a sensation and outrage upon its publication! It was banned by the police, and as late as 1960 Penguin Books found itself in the dock when it published the book. In a famous trial in which a number of famous writers and literary scholars came to Lawrence's defense, the novel was found innocent and cleared of pornography charges. It is true that the author depicts erotic scenes with great frankness. But they are not an end in themselves.
It is a social novel about human relations at the turn of two epochs, with an emphasis on the deep and true erotic relationship between man and woman, which has an impact on the emancipation of man and society. This work ultimately made the author most famous and became the subject of a number of films and TV productions (1955 - the film France, 1981 UK co-production film, France, Germany, 1998 two-part CT film directed by Viktor Polesny, 2006 co-production film Belgium, 2015 British TV movie).
AudioStory Publishing is celebrating 30 years of existence in 2021, and as a second title to mark its milestone, it has produced this companion novel, D. H. Lawrence in the original translation by František Vrba.
