We're not different, we're just weird! A new novel for children by Petra Soukupová.
Ten-year-old Mila likes animals - especially insects and most of all spiders. He can also "disappear from the world". When she focuses on something, everything else ceases to exist for her. Peter is in the fourth grade, but he looks like a first grader. He can draw brilliantly and can't sleep at night. They are afraid of the dark, or rather of what is hidden in it. And when he falls asleep, he has terrible dreams. Katka has no friends, she feels fat and ugly. She is afraid to talk to people and is only happy when she is reading. Franta has bad legs and has to walk on crutches. He's angry about his disability and tends to be mean to people. He enjoys making YouTube videos that he likes to use to provoke others. These four meet by chance. They're not even friends to begin with, more like weird kids hanging out together. But then they have an experience together that is unforgettable.
"I'm weird, I know it. I've known for a long time, so I've gotten used to people looking at me sometimes. Used to is maybe inaccurate because I didn't always care, I just saw that people thought I was weird."
