Why me?
Dying in virtual reality is no fun, but facing the bullets of crime bosses in real life is something else entirely. In such a desperate situation, their request for me to do them a small favour in VR doesn't seem like a bad alternative. The problem is that the games of spy agencies follow much harsher rules. Being unable to refuse is not a good excuse for them – especially when you disrupt their secret operations.
Still, I simply had no choice. That's why the price of freedom didn't seem too steep. All I had to do was log in, become a necromancer, shake off my pursuers, get through the elimination, and track down one specific person. Who? Why? And how was I supposed to do it?
Wrong questions. I only had one: Why me? Why John Doe?
