Karel Tachovský: Where Ulysses wanders

The weakling, liar and doubter Odysseus and his infamous pilgrimage? A bitter update of the Homeric myth. From Karel Tachovský's original plays, this time we recall an ironic apocryphal on the Odyssean theme, which Tachovský set in the twentieth century. In this case, the mythical hero is presented as a weakling, a liar and a doubter. The author plays with individual motifs and characters from Greek mythology to create a picture of a war-torn society in which great stories have no place. All that remains is manipulation, lies, banality and irony. In the end, Tachovsky's modern Ulysses is just a disgraced wreck who, after years of wandering, finds no peace even when he returns home - instead of his beloved wife and son, he is confronted by two beings who are completely alienated from him.
