Josef Nesvadba: Death of a Robot

At the beginning of the 1970s, the writer Josef Nesvadba paid a bizarre tribute to Čapek's famous play in his short story The Absolute Machine. In the short story The Absolute Machine, the characters whose names refer directly to the prefigures from Čapek's drama (the scientist Reason, his wife Helena, the doctor and the scientist Čapek). And the story that the tale tells, like R. U. R. is a warning about the dangers of artificial intelligence when it escapes human control and gains dominion over its creator. The radio dramatisation of the short story Absolute Machine was created in 2001 for the series From the Doctor's Bag, whose dramaturgy was based on adaptations of literary works written by Czech doctors. The Death of the Robot was adapted into a radio play by Šárka Kosková.
