Attention, the interrogation is about to begin! Josef Mareš, the most famous Czech criminalist, former head of the Prague Mordtparty, author of the series Ninety and Cases of the 1st Department, will answer the questions. He's solved hundreds of murders and now he's talking about the killers, the victims and the most interesting cases. It also takes you behind the scenes of an investigator's work.
How do you collect evidence against criminals? How do interrogations work and what can happen during them? When was his life on the line and how did he deal with the evil he saw?
Mareš spent almost thirty years in the police force and lived through the wild 1990s. He was there when the barrels were pulled out of the Orlice dam, talking to such hardened people, like Jonah was, Mrazek or Roubal, and investigated several shootings, involving the Mafia. Among his most famous cases from more recent times are the Prague taxivrah, the search for the missing Anička and the murder of journalist Michal Velíšek.
Do men murder differently than women? Where do the killers hide the corpses? Which perpetrators did he feel sorry for? Why did he treat some of them nicely, and even make them coffee, even though he despised them? And why does he still visit some convicts in prison years later?
Lovers of crime stories get their hands on an authentic account of a man who knows the background of crime like few others.
The questions were asked by Martin Moravec, whose book interviews with neurosurgeon Vladimír Beneš and pilot David Hecl have become bestsellers.
