Jiří Horák: Eyewitness

The culmination of Nazi repression against the Czech nation was the extermination of the village of Lidice on 10 June 1942, which Adolf Hitler ordered as an act of revenge for the killing of Reinhard Heydrich. The documentary radio play deals not only with the historical facts surrounding the Lidice tragedy, but also with little-known or even deliberately withheld details. An eyewitness, one of two Czech filmmakers who were ordered by the Nazis to document the fateful day in Lidice, tells the story of the horrible and monstrous act of extermination.
