The audiobook The First Czech Philosopher and Patriot Jerome of Prague is literally a living embodiment of his life story.
It provides us with a unique opportunity for an intensive experience of this epoch of history and its relationship to the present, to the issues we live today.
Jerome of Prague was a European scholar, philosopher, master of the seven liberal arts at the University of Prague and other universities of his time. He was a close friend of Master Jan Hus, the freedom fighter, who considered Jerome a witty and courageous man. His life was the embodiment of what he preached and taught. He was a troublemaker... he was a scholar... and thus became dangerous to the ruling climate of the day.
The book does not set out to provide any new historical facts, but seeks above all to put a human face on the experiential contemplation of Jerome's personality. In this way he communicates the voice of his soul in a direct way to today's reader against the background of the historical events that led to Jerome's demise for the truth.
The book is read in a very suggestive and engaging way by the author himself, Jiří Krutina. The music, fully capturing the personality and fate of Jerome, was composed by Čeněk Kavečka. The book was recorded in the Digital World studio in Pardubice.
Join us on a breathtaking and at the same time breath-taking inner journey through medieval history with an extraordinary Czech man whose philosophical ideas were at the beginning of the Czech Hussite Revolution in the 15th century.
