It's not the end of the world

Find out which environmental measures we overestimate, and which ones are truly worth our effort.

Do you ever feel anxious about the state of our planet? Climate change, biodiversity loss, and oceans full of plastic are major problems, but panic is no more helpful than denial. Hannah Ritchie analyses humanity's seven main environmental challenges and shows us how to tackle them. If we can do this, we will achieve true sustainability for the first time in history.
In the book, you'll find many surprising facts, for example:
Cutting down on beef consumption helps the planet more than recycling.
Millions of people are dying from air pollution, yet the air we breathe today is the cleanest it has been in the last hundred years.
The growth of big cities doesn't destroy nature; in fact, urban living is more environmentally friendly.
Humanity has already managed to deal with the ozone hole — and it is capable of tackling climate change too.
“An inspiring wellspring of data that offers us not only a realistic guide but also the most important ingredient of all: hope.”
