PATRICIA BRIGGS American author Patricia Briggs (born 1965) has been writing since 1990. Her first novel, Masques, was published in 1993. The book was not a success, and the author's fledgling career almost ended before it began. Fortunately, her second novel, Steal the Dragon, sold much better and received favourable reviews from critics. The author's career slowly took off, and with each new title, her sales and fan base grew. The growing popularity of Briggs' books, combined with her ability to create vivid, compelling characters, inspired her publisher to ask if she would try writing a modern urban fantasy. Briggs accepted the challenge and signed a contract for a series of books starring Mercy Thompson. ANITA KRAUSOVÁ A Czech theatre, film, and television actress and radio presenter.
