You Can't Hide from the Merciless Enemy, Even in the Shadow of the Sun
When spaceships begin to disappear in the first half of the 22nd century, it seems pirates, rebels from the colonies, or the immeasurable depths of space are to blame. When they start returning armed with unknown weapons and attacking vessels and space stations, humanity very quickly learns that it has been at war for months without the slightest clue.
The mysterious Corsairs strike without warning, never attempt contact, and at the slightest risk of their ship being captured, they initiate total self-destruction. Humans have been fighting them for almost ten years, but apart from the abducted crews, no one has ever seen a living Corsair. The merciless enemy remains as much a mystery as at the beginning of the war.
The UTSS Salamis was supposed to be the first ship to capture a Corsair vessel and get answers to the most burning questions about the mysterious adversary. Instead, it barely escapes from a lost battle and is now hiding in the upper corona of the red giant Gamma Crucis, protected from the blazing hell only by an experimental protective shield.
In the shadow of the sun, the Salamis was supposed to be safe, but as the discovery of a murdered technician's body soon proves, the Corsairs are much closer than anyone on the crew thought…
