Historical novel set in the 9th century AD during the time of the Great Moravian Empire

The youngest son of the Moravian king Svatopluk captures a young man he mistakenly believes to be the chief of a local tribe on a campaign to the Vltava River. The scholarly prisoner is baptised by Archbishop Methodius and, following his advice, makes an unexpected career. This exciting story full of dramatic twists and turns ends with the founding of Prague as the new seat of the Czech princes.
