Police chief investigates death of young girl in Amish settlement

Police Chief Kate Burkholder enlists the help of a rural New York sheriff to help locals solve a case involving a reclusive Amish settlement and the death of a young girl. Unable to overcome the wall of silence that stands between the Amish and the rest of the locals, the sheriff enlists the help of Kate to infiltrate the community undercover. Kate's partner, State Agent John Tomasetti, is fundamentally opposed to it, to take on such an unusual assignment, because he knows full well that among the Amish, Kate would have very limited means of communication with the outside world - and even less ability to summon help. But Kate can't back down now, especially as disturbing rumours of children at risk circulate around the settlement.
