In the darkness

On an icy winter's night, a four-year-old girl disappears from her family's cabin near Örnsköldsvik in the freezing north of Sweden. Her parents are desperate, and the entire community joins the search. Did the girl leave the house voluntarily? Or was she abducted?

It soon becomes clear that another family member is also missing, and for Sofia Hjortén and her colleagues, the investigation turns into a race against time. The case stirs up strong emotions in Sofia—she is expecting her first child in just a few weeks. Heavily pregnant, she sets out to hunt down a ruthless perpetrator who is willing to sacrifice everything to achieve their goal.

V temnotě is a thrilling Swedish detective story in which readers are reunited with investigator Sofia Hjortén and former police cadet Fredrik Fröding. It is a standalone sequel to the book Solstice by the same author.
