In Quest of History On Czech Statehood and Identity

Dialogue by Karel Hvížďala, a journalist-inquirer from Prague, with Jiří Přibáň, a legal philosopher from Cardiff, UK, over the nodal points of our history, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Republic, in a broad territorial and temporal context from the 9th to the 21st century. This span allowed us to look into the past and ask why and how we have perceived and understood our history at different times and what this means for our present and future. < br> < br> Linked to this search is the effort to get rid of the reduction of history to a projection screen of our frustrations. The authors have chosen the form of a dialogue in which they try to bring back into the public space issues that are mostly dealt with only in academia or that are avoided.
