In a moment of doubt

Jane, a young screenwriter, arrives at the remote mansion of the mysterious rich man Evan Rochester as a governess for his illegitimate daughter. However, a number of mysteries surround the new employer – especially what happened to his disappeared wife, the famous model Beatrice, who had recently suffered from mental problems. Did she really commit suicide by jumping into the rough ocean, or did Rochester murder her, as some are trying to tell Jane? And if she really is dead, who is it that appears ghostly in the fog outside the windows of Jan's house? Does he see Beatrice's ghost?

Solving this mystery takes on a new urgency when Jane falls in love with the charming Evan and they become lovers. The past hangs over them like a storm cloud, and now their entire relationship and Evan's life depend on whether Jane can uncover the truth about the night Beatrice disappeared. But what if she discovers that she's been believing the wrong person all along?
