Ilava
This autobiography by writer, journalist and humorist Elo Šándor focuses on the period after the formation of the Slovak State, when he was arrested for his political views along with a group of other prominent figures. He was initially imprisoned in Ilava prison and later transferred to a concentration camp. Despite his attempts to treat the situation with humour and his optimistic outlook on life, the grim reality of those difficult times shines through.
