"If you seek God in love."
The thinking of Josef Šafařík, who always expected more from the individual than from society and warned against intellectual and ethical conformism, is imbued with a deep humanism. To his interest in personalities, like Socrates, Jesus, Dorothee Sölle or Hans Küng, he was driven by personal sympathy and a desire to understand, where true humanity lies. Although he worked in seclusion and was not able to publish officially for most of his life, his views and attitudes influenced Václav Havel, Josef Topol and other prominent figures of the cultural scene. Šafařík's work is an appeal that confronts every reader with fundamental existential questions, and even after all these years it has lost none of its inspirational value.
