I am a star: child of the Holocaust
Inge Auerbacher celebrated her seven birthdays with her family in their southern German home, but the next three in a place she called a nightmare. In 1942, she and her parents were deported to the concentration camp in Terezín. She was one of the few children who did not continue further east from there to the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp. She survived and was eventually liberated, as were her parents. Her memoirs are considered in the West to be key memoir literature related to the topic of the Holocaust.
