Hunters of Dune
Hunters of Dune is the first book in the stunning grand finale of Frank Herbert's original, globally successful saga.
Hunters of Dune and the concluding volume, Sandworms of Dune, bring together the great storylines and beloved characters from Frank Herbert's classic Dune universe, spanning from the Butlerian Jihad to the original Dune series and beyond. Based directly on Frank Herbert's final outline, which lay hidden in two safe-deposit boxes for a decade, these two volumes finally answer the pressing questions that Dune fans have endlessly debated.
At the end of Chapterhouse: Dune – the last book in the series written by Frank Herbert – a no-ship carrying the ghola Duncan Idaho, Sheeana (a young woman who can control sandworms), and a mix of other refugees escapes into the uncharted galaxy. They are fleeing the monstrous Honoured Matres, the dark counterparts to the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood. The almost invincible Honoured Matres have overrun the Old Imperium, driven from their own home by a terrifying and mysterious Enemy.
The core story of Hunters of Dune is the exotic journey of Duncan's no-ship, forced to evade the devilish snares of the unknown, cruel Enemy. To improve their chances, the refugees use genetic technology obtained from Scytale, the last Tleilaxu Master, and resurrect key figures from Dune's past – including Paul Muad'Dib and his beloved Chani, Lady Jessica, Stilgar, Liet-Kynes, Thufir Hawat, and even Doctor Wellington Yueh. Each of these characters will use their special abilities to overcome the difficult trials ahead. Failure is not an option – not only is their own survival at stake, but the fate of the entire human race.
