How secrets are inherited

Olivia Shaw's world, a respected food reviewer from San Francisco, will be turned upside down, when she finds out after her mother's death that she's not only the heiress to an old English estate, but also a title of nobility, that belongs to him. She had no idea of her roots until then. And so, grieving the loss of her beloved mother and confused by the fact that she did not learn such a crucial thing directly from her, she sets off for the ocean.

Olivia feels like a stranger in the English countryside and plans to return to America as soon as possible. One look at the breathtaking Rosemere Priory estate, however, and Olivia immediately understands why the house, though neglected and marred by time, has appeared so often in her mother's paintings.

She had always thought that the beautiful rose gardens, the vast grounds and the deep woods were a figment of her mother's imagination. And now this magical place full of the spirits of her ancestors speaks to her. She is not at all clear why her mother, with whom she was so close, never mentioned all this to her.

So she begins to investigate the past of her own family and its ancient mansion, hidden beneath the dust, behind the falling walls and the Elizabethan windows covered with green vines, and above all in the memories of local witnesses; while gradually revealing the whole truth about why her mother left her beautiful home long ago.

But Olivia has to decide what the future holds for Rosemere and herself. Will he find the strength to overcome personal discomfort and hardship and accept the challenge of saving a heritage that has been passed down through the generations for centuries?

But first of all, he must unravel the threads of his own past…
