House of Pomegranates

Tales from Oscar Wilde's The House of Pomegranates in audiobook form for the first time! Oscar Wilde wrote two sets of fairy tales during his lifetime. The first, The Happy Prince and Other Fairy Tales, from 1888, is very popular in this country and has been published and adapted many times, but his second set, The House of Pomegranates, from 1891, is almost unknown in this country. This collection contains four fairy tales - The Young King, The Infanta's Birthday, The Fisherman and His Soul and The Star Child, which are still relevant more than a hundred and thirty years after their writing and show the ills of society through allegory and parable. These tales of Wilde are strongly inspired by Asia and Asian philosophy and have a strong social subtext. The author's immensely impressive imagery and refined poetic language are enhanced by the congenial translation by Jiří Zdeněk Novák in the first audiobook edition of The House of Pomegranates. Michal Bumbálek took on the difficult interpretation of the multi-layered text.
