Hope: an autobiography

This extraordinary book, the first autobiography ever written by a Pope during his presidency, has seen the light of day in a Holy Year whose message is one of hope. Pope Francis worked on the book for six years and in his narrative he returns to his Italian roots at the beginning of the twentieth century. With wise insight and kind humour, he reveals bits and pieces of his personal life and family history, recounting his childhood and adolescence in Buenos Aires and the events that led him to choose his life's mission. He takes on challenges with honesty and courage, he faced during his pontificate, including major topics, like war, migration, environmental crisis, the status of women, Sexuality, technological development or the future of the Church. From his memoirs emerges a powerful story of an extraordinary personality, full of inspiring ideas, a "novel of life" and a moral and spiritual legacy that conveys a message of hope to future generations. "The book of my life is the story of a journey of hope that I cannot imagine apart from the journey of my family, my people, all God's people. On every page, in every passage, it is also a book about those who have walked with me, who have gone before us and who will follow us. We Christians must know that hope does not deceive and will not disappoint. Everything is born to flourish in eternal spring. And at the end we'll just say: Nepamatuji si na nic, v čem nejsi Ty.“ - Francesco Papež František: HOPE: autobiography | Translation by PhDr. Marta Bárová | Read by Jan Vlasák | Directed by Helena Rytířová | Sound, editing music and mastering Zdeněk Rytíř jr. | Filmed in Chevaliere studio | Language cooperation Ivana Sovišová | Graphic design by Jana Lhotáková | Production Helena Rytířová | Supervision Alena Brožová | Published by Euromedia Group, a. does – Témbr, v červenci 2025.
