History of Europe 1: Ancient Europe

The first volume in the new History of Europe series provides an overview of the historical epoch that laid the foundations for later European history: Greek and Roman antiquity. The team of authors, led by J. Bednaříková, examines how political, economic and cultural history were related to the landscape, tracing fundamental impulses in the organisation of the state, the legal system, philosophy and art. Attention is also paid to the world on the peripheries of the ancient civilisations, i.e., the world of the so-called “barbarians”.
