Historicus inter saecula movens

This book of contributions for Professor Jiří Pešek's milestone birthday reflects the broad scope of his research interests and provides his complete bibliography for the first time. The introductory texts, which summarise Pešek's life and career to date and are partly of a commemorative nature, are followed by a further twenty-five contributions from both Czech and international authors. They are divided into three sections. The first is dedicated to the history of Prague University and the cultural history of Czech towns in the late Middle Ages and the early modern period, while the second section addresses similar themes in the 19th and 20th centuries. The third part of the book reflects a long-standing professional interest in the German and Austrian lands, and it is here that we also find several contributions from the professor's international friends, whose interests, in turn, often focus on the Czech lands.
