Heterocosmica I
The prominent Czech bohemist Professor Lubomír Doležel (1922–2017), who lived in Canada, introduced readers to a significant school of literary theory – the theory of fictional worlds of art, which he co-founded at the end of the 20th century. Unlike classical interpretation, the theory of fictional worlds posits that a literary work is open to countless levels of interpretation. Thus, a constant interaction can occur between the literary work (fiction) and reality. Heterocosmica (Fiction and Possible Worlds, 2003) represents a significant linguistic contribution to postmodern literary theories.
After more than twenty years and two subsequent books, Heterocosmica II (Fictional Worlds of Postmodern Czech Prose, 2014) and Heterocosmica III (Fictional Worlds of Protomodern Czech Prose, 2018), it is being published in a second edition.
