He's up to something.
Jenna is approaching thirty-five when her husband leaves her, telling her he has found someone else and was never truly happy with her. She takes the breakup hard and hides from the world in her childhood bedroom at her parents' house. After six months, however, Jenna's eccentric, energetic grandmother, Evelyn, steps in and persuades her to take a trip together to her hometown of Hereford, Massachusetts. On the way to Hereford, the eccentric grandmother not only gets up to all sorts of hilarious antics that often make Jenna's blood run cold, but she also tells the story of her first love, Tony, a boy from a Portuguese fishing family. Evelyn's father, a successful Jewish merchant, resisted his charming daughter's pressure and refused to consent to her marriage to Tony. Tony then rejects her proposal to run away from home. In the end, Evelyn married Fred, whom she met during her studies, and spent decades of happy life with him. Fred died five years ago, and for Evelyn, the trip is a return to the 'scene of the crime,' where Tony still lives. Is her grandmother planning to return to the arms of her long-lost love in her old age? And what unexpected surprises has she prepared for Jenna there?
