Hermeneutics as a Theory of Understanding / From Basic Questions of Language to Biblical Interpretat
Hermeneutics as a theory of interpretation, a theory of interpretation, is becoming, in today's terms, a theory of understanding in general. The basic areas of hermeneutic research (language, communication with the "world of the text") are arranged in the first part of this overview publication according to established areas, for which methodological procedures have been gradually developed. It turns out that since the middle of the 18th century we can already speak of a modern tradition of hermeneutics, which in principle applies to all areas of human life and history. The second part of the book consists of contributions by our leading scholars, devoted to particular problems and figures in the hermeneutical debate (Translation in Antiquity, Patristic Exegesis, F. Schleiermacher, E. Husserl, M. Heidegger, R. Bultmann, Postmodern Criticism). The third part is devoted to exegesis and commentary on mainly biblical texts. The publication was co-authored by J. Čapek, R. Dostálová, L. Karfíková, A. Kliková, Z. Mathauser, J. Mrázek, I. Noble, A. Pištora, M. Prudky, H. Šmahelová
