Grunge

This is a properly wild 80s full of werewolves, trolls and zombies!

A successful franchise doesn't just bring with it crowds of enthusiastic fans and bamillions of bills stuffed into pillows, but also spin-offs. That is, stand-alone stories (they can also form a whole other series) that take a secondary character or a peripheral motif from the main series and then elaborate on it.
And let's face it, Larry Correia's Monster Hunters is a mega-successful series, so it was no surprise that one day the author was approached by seasoned literary whiz John Ringo, who said he'd like to write a spin-off to this action-packed urban fantasy cut-up. And when Correia nodded, Ringo admitted that he had already finished the first episode.
So here is Grunge, which goes back to the 1980s, when the world was a bit artificial, but also politically incorrect. The protagonist of Ringo & Correia's novel is a Marine, Chad, who sort of dies in a bombing in Beirut, but also gets a chance from St. Peter to go back to Earth to complete another mission. And Chad and his trusty katana, the Mourning Sword, can't be missed. In the end it's a bit boring in heaven, no action and few girls willing to frolic. Chad, a dowser who can eat every skirt in sight so that even the Scots are afraid of him, joins the Monster Hunters on a mission, among whom he does his due diligence.
And Ringo, too: overseen by Larry Correia, he plays an adrenaline-fueled literary grunge full of humor, absurd situations and high-octane action. Which is exactly what readers want from Monster Hunters.
