Blood-soaked fantasy full of sarcasm and darkness
Live in the saddle! Die on your hog! Such is the creed of the half-orcs inhabiting the Lot Lands. These former slaves guard their bleak country on the backs of giant wild boars they call hogs. They are the only thing that stands between the magnificent and rich kingdom of men, Hispartha, and the wild hordes of pureblood orcs.
Jackal protects his land as a member of the Grey Bastards, one of the eight brotherhoods that survived the brutal siege of the Lot Lands. The young and ambitious half-orc has long disagreed with the decisions of the leader and founder of the Bastards, a warrior called the Claymaster, and he seeks to overthrow him. He has his loyal, thrice-blooded friend Oats and the beautiful Fetching, the only female rider in the hoof, on his side.
When a foreign wizard visits the fortress of the Grey Bastards, the plans to overthrow the chief are revealed and Jackal must set off on a journey. During his travels, he will face dangerous adversaries: magical sludges, Hisparthan frails, brawny hordes and menacing centaurs who ride out to perform their bloody rituals during the Traitor's Moon. In his search for the truth, Jackal must decide where his loyalties lie and find his place in a world that rewards only the malevolent.
