Grammatical analyses of Czech

This study guide, intended primarily for first-year students of bachelor's degree programmes in Czech studies, contains explanations of the morphemics, word formation, morphology, and syntax of the Czech language, accompanied by a number of examples, and several exercises for each of these disciplines, including an answer key. The aim of the explanations is to help users of the guide improve their linguistic analysis skills after studying them. The publication also offers a series of spelling exercises (in the form of proofreading texts with errors) and tasks from the field of normative morphology of standard Czech (divided according to individual inflected parts of speech), including solutions. However, spelling and normative grammar are not explained here – for guidance on these, we refer you to the Internet Language Guide (http://prirucka.ujc.cas.cz). Finally, the publication also includes a glossary of basic linguistic terminology, in two arrangements: alphabetical and thematic (organised according to individual linguistic disciplines and their subject areas).
