Good Cumans

Good People of Palóc by Kálmán Mikszáth is a collection of short stories written in 1881. The stories are set in Slovak villages, and we meet simple people with strong moral values who overcome the hardships and joys of life. Mikszáth portrays ordinary people with warmth and understanding. The original translation by Samuel Czambel would seem archaic in ordinary works, but in this case, it evokes the same period of Slovak literature.
