God in the midst of his church

This monograph presents for the first time the work of the systematic theologian Friedrich Mildenberger of Erlangen. His three-volume Biblical Dogmatics, which the author extensively interprets and comments on, combines biblical scholarship with dogmatic inquiry and seeks a pertinent understanding of Scripture in church practice. In Mildenberger's "simple talk about God," the church commits itself to discussing truth that is realized in a life context, not a theological one. Mildenberger's work, completely unknown in the Czech environment, stands out in 20th century German theology for its sheer radicalism, interdisciplinarity and consistency of thought.
